Terrence and his guests showcased their searches in an interesting and often entertaining set, building up driven moments that not always were going somewhere, but every tune had at least one of these moments. Young musicians dedicated to the art of jazz. Till they invited the famous singer and composer over, who wasn't about to do his own work, but some jazz standards. Next thing we were in a Japanese karaoke bar where the singer was battling with English, rhythm and tune of Route 66 and Ain't misbehaving. I didn't last till the end of the third song, while the mainly local audience reacted definitely with more gusto than during the instrumental tunes. We witnessed the same thing in last years Fashion Show, young designers striving to conform to the Western standards. This is not just expat frustration about failed exoticotourism, artists complain almost weekly in the press about the lack of will to develop a local/regional style.
