The children in the van were injured when the helicopter from Bravo Company 2nd Battalion 16th Infantry Regiment engaged for the second time. Among the more than 12 dead were 2 REUTERS employees. Reuters never got access to the video, Wikileaks did, and added the subtitles. The video is still viewable on www.collateralmurder.com. A 23 year old US Army Intelligence Analist has been charged -not for these indiscriminate killings who appear to be in violation of the Geneva Conventions but for leaking the video- and faces up to 52 years in prison. A support network has been set up to pay for his legal fees www.bradleymanning.org. Manning might be (one of) the source(s) for the diplomatic cables. He got arrested after ex-hacker Adrian Lamo reported him. Lamo, acting as a government informer while he kept on chatting with Manning, says he acted out of conscience. If it was Lamo's conscience that made him contact Wired in the midst of this to ensure some controlled publicity?
