Murnau's 'Sunrise' (1927) was a pleasant surprise. Dark as Nosferatu in the beginning, it becomes one exuberant city feast, flamboyant in its direction, replacing the madness with pure joy, while the acting resists flawlessly almost 80 years of film history. Apart from five seconds of dramatic silence, the movie was accompanied live by Lambchop from behind the screen, often merging completely with the movie reinforcing its energy. A brilliant combination.
